Kyiv Classic Ballet – presenting and developing the world best ballet traditions

 

The Kyiv Classic Ballet is a leading classical ballet company from Ukraine founded in 2008 as a touring company by Tetyana Borovyk, former Principal dancer at the National Opera of Ukraine, People’s Artist of the Ukraina.

Under the direction of Artistic director Tatiana Borovyk the Kiev Classic Ballet is currently internationally renowned ballet company, highly regarded for its lightness, musicality and subtle technique, that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Ukrainian classical ballet traditions. Ballet master of company is Tatiana Goliakova, she has been a leading figure in the National Opera of Ukraine and was honored with the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine.

Stunning costumes and unique scenery by one of the most known Ukrainian theatrical Artist, the Chief artist of the National Opera of Ukraine Mariia Levytska – were created especially for the Kyiv Classic Ballet.

From its inception until Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the company was based in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, representing and developing the best traditions of the Kyiv ballet school, whose graduates grace ballet companies around the world. The war changed the life of every Ukrainian forever. In the first months of the war, outstanding soloists of the National Opera of Ukraine, who also regularly performed with the Kyiv Classic Ballet, Artem Datsyshyn and Oleksandr Shapoval were killed by Russian aggressors. After the Russian missile attacks on Kyiv began, the company was forced to move its rehearsal and theatre base to Europe.

Kyiv Classic Ballet tours around the world, with particular success in Japan, where it has been recognized as the best guest ballet company for 10 years, touring for 3 months each year. Before the company’s reorganization in 2017, which saw the troupe perform primarily in Japan, the company also performed in Spain, France, Germany and Switzerland.

The company cooperates with leading dancers of Ukraine and the world. Among the soloists of the troupe are Mie Nagasawa, Anna Reznicenko, Lyudmila Ulantseva, Natalia Lazebnikova, Ivan Kozlov, Oleksiy Knyazkov, Taras Kovshun, Vsevolod Maevsky, Mykyta Sukhorukov. Many famous performers (such as Mie Nagasawa, Anna Reznicenko, Taras Kovshun, Vsevolod Maevsky and others) danced their first solo parts and became ballet stars with Kyiv Classic Ballet. Kyiv Classic Ballet supports young talented performers who have the opportunity to hone their talent with the best ballet teachers.
